IAU Libraries

Introduction

At the heart of the Madina Jamiah of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, the Central Library was opened for male students, faculty members, staff, and other users in May 2014. This is a new, hi-tech, purpose-built three-story building. 

In addition to all faculty and students of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, It serves members from the local public, industry, and business community.

Collection

This library currently holds 82,101 Print items, 261 Databases covering 73,330 Arabic and 167,181 English e-Journal, 34,299 Arabic and 725,696 English e-books, 5,563,299 e-Thesis and Dissertations, and 23,874 Videos. Annually subscribes to 19Printed Journals and the back issues of the printed journals are preserved for research and consultation. Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University’s graduate and post-graduate theses collection are also shelved in this library. The Special Collection and Government Publications section is also managed in the library.

Services & Facilities

There is a large range of services offered by central library to the IAU’s community within and outside the campus. These services include:

  1. User-friendly study hours during regular teaching hours and examinations throughout the academic year.
  2. Book circulation and reservation services through the circulation desk and/or self-check-in & check-out.
  3. Online reservation/ renewal and ILL request link
  4. Interlibrary loan facility within IAU libraries.
  5. Physical to virtual reference services, i.e., one-on-one, online chat, and email.
  6. An online public access library catalog  for searching
  7. Electronic Resources search through the E-Resources portal.
  8. Orientations and training programs for freshmen and for new users.
  9. Research support through ILRC programs and Liaison Librarians.

  10. University special events support services i.e. seminar rooms & grand seminar hall etc.

  11. Computer labs, Wi-Fi, assistance in device connectivity, smart boards for teaching and collaborative learning
  12. Group study rooms for academic presentation and research purposes.
  13. Free scanning facility subject to Kingdom & International copyright laws.

  14. Print/photocopy self-service on payment.
  15. Book return self-service facility available 24/7.
  16. Current awareness and SDI via IAU libraries OPAC.
  17. Cafeteria.
